Enterprise Fitness is Melbourne’s premier personal training studio. The founder, Mark Ottobre, has thousands of YouTube followers. His coaches deliver life-changing transformations. His clients rave about the results. 

After we designed his website, he had a boost in results; however, we were wondering if we were leaving leads on the table. So we went to work with our Conversion Optimization service.

In this case study, we walk through the bottlenecks we found, what we changed, and the measurable results we produced across three months of systematic conversion optimization.

The Problems We Uncovered

At Studio1Design.com, we always start optimizing a website by auditing the user behavior and analytics. Here’s what we discovered…

  • We discovered people had friction when it came to the book in form. There was a significant drop-off rate at question three.
  • Heatmap data revealed visitors were ignoring two of four services on the home page. The layout wasn’t reflecting where the visitor’s intent actually was.
  • Most traffic was arriving on mobile, but the mobile conversion rate was sitting at just 3.13%. The experience wasn’t optimized for smaller screens.
  • The free lead magnet was underperforming. So we created two new interactive lead magnets that convert really well.
  • The dropdown navigation was boring. And so we treated it like a mini landing page, and the results were incredible.

Mark’s goals were straightforward: more consultation bookings, higher-quality leads prepared to pay a premium price point. He said it best himself:

Here’s What We Changed

The first step was a complete redesign built around conversion principles. But this isn’t a story about a redesign; it’s a story about what happened after the redesign launched.

Because here’s the truth most agencies won’t tell you: a new design is not the destination. It’s the starting line.

After launch, we implemented a systematic testing approach across five key areas:

1. The Booking Form

The original consultation booking form had a 32% drop-off rate. Nearly one in three people who started filling it out left before they finished. Using heatmaps and session recordings, we identified the friction points, too many fields, an illogical question sequence, inconsistent button placement, and redundant headlines cluttering the steps.

We streamlined the form with a clearer progress indicator, consistent button placement, and removed unnecessary copy in steps 2–5. Drop-off fell from 32% to 23% in the first round,  generating 108 consultation bookings in 33 days.

We didn’t stop there. A second round of testing, reordering steps, and refining the headline pushed drop-off down to just 14.1%. Completion rate reached 85.9%. That’s a 25% improvement from where we started.

2. Home Page Layout (Data-Driven Redesign)

Heatmap data revealed something interesting: visitors were almost entirely ignoring two of Enterprise Fitness’s four services, Contest Preparation and Clinical Naturopathy, and focusing almost exclusively on Personal Training and Online Coaching.

We redesigned the home page service section to lead with the two popular services and added a ‘View All Services’ button below. We also converted the traditional dropdown navigation to on-page anchor links, creating a more focused user path.

The result? Dramatically improved engagement with core offerings and a cleaner, less confusing experience for new visitors.

3. Mobile Optimization

Despite the majority of their traffic coming from mobile devices, the mobile conversion rate was sitting at just 3.13%. Mobile-specific improvements: completely redesigned the mobile hamburger menu to be more like a mini landing page by adding social proof, optimizing above-the-fold elements, touch-friendly CTAs,  pushed mobile conversions to 6.10%. That’s a 93% improvement. Nearly double.

4. Lead Magnet Testing

We ran six different versions of the free ‘Enterprise Fitness User Manual’ offer, testing headlines, value propositions, visual presentation, and CTA wording. That all helped; however, we decided to create two interactive lead magnets to give the visitor a quick win when it came to their nutrition and workouts. These increased email sign-ups by 48.3%, generating 18 new leads in 34 days compared to 15 leads over 42 days previously.

5. Navigation Restructure

Converting the traditional dropdown menu to on-page anchor links reduced cognitive load and kept visitors focused on the services they came to explore. This small structural change improved engagement across key service pages and reduced the number of people bouncing from the home page.
